Whether by financial contributions or physical effort, people find endless ways of supporting Cornwall's biodiversity.  Here we offer a few suggestions and salute just some of the individuals and organisations who make this work possible.

Photography in the Wild

As a follow-up to the successful Art in the Wild of September 1998, this year Peter King (organiser of last year's event) and David Chapman (Chairman of the Trust's Photographic Group) are organising an exhibition of photographs.  We aim to promote the medium of photography and a greater awareness of wildlife by showing off the work of local photographers.  On view will be everything natural, including flowers, insects, mammals, birds and fish;  photography will be under water, in the air, on the ground, up trees, abroad and at home.  We guarantee that if you are interested, at all, in wildlife there will be something that grabs your attention.  As well as having a look, you can buy any of the exhibits - this will help us to raise money for the Trust.  We will have a stall selling goods from the Trust shop.  We aim to have a stall at weekends from a local camera shop, selling binoculars and cameras, both new and second-hand.  As the exhibition is next to Breney Common Nature Reserve, make a day of it and see what the reserve has to offer.

Further to this we are providing field workshops for anyone interested in furthering their photographic knowledge.  These will take place at the weekends.  We will take advantage of the close proximity of Breney Common by photographing some of the wildlife and flowers. Topfoto, a local processing company, will provide free processing (over lunch) of the first film used by each of our participants.  This will give us an ideal opportunity to assess our work before carrying on after lunch!

Whether or not you intend to come, please support us by taking one of our posters - call Trust HQ on (01872) 273939 or myself on (01736) 850287 - to a local library, shop, post office, public house or any other good location for display.  This is an excellent opportunity to have a good day out, raise money for the Trust and support local people and wildlife.
