The Lizard 10.00am
Meet in front of the Top House pub in the Lizard town car park to receive details of the start point. We'll be meeting up with some of our American counterparts to show off The Lizard's unique geology and wildlife. Join us for a 3-mile coastal walk, taking in its serpentine features, rock pools, birds and botany. We aim to continue past 3.00pm, but you can leave earlier if you like.

During five classroom sessions and five site visits (to be arranged with students), we will investigate the ecology and inter-relationships of plants and animals in five habitats: seashore, heathland, wetland, woodland and grassland. Cost £2.50 per session. Please call to book.

From B3271 Callington road in Saltash, turn down Church Road by the fire station,

CORNWALL BUTTERFLY CONSERVATION
BUTTERFLY WALK
"Toad's Hole", near Enniscaven, Goss Moor 2.00pm
Meet just north of Enniscaven by powerlines. SW 965597
A chance to discover the butterflies of this nationally important area -Goss Moor. This area is renowned for its abundance of insect life, especially dragonflies, damselflies, moths and also several rare species of butterflies. We would suggest good walking boots or wellington boots as the going may be damp.

This Duchy of Cornwall reserve contains one of Britain's largest colonies of the very rare heath fritillary butterfly which almost became extinct in 1980. Bring walking boots, drink and camera.

Between Zennor and Pendeen. SW 436376
Enjoy spectacular scenery, wild flowers and birds on the cliff, pop into the pub for refreshments, then listen to the strange sound of nightjars as dusk falls. If it's too cold they'll be quiet, but if we're lucky we may see as well as hear them. Bring binoculars, suitable footwear and warm clothing.

This is the first opportunity for our branch to explore these southern coastal grassland meadows which should be full of early summer wild flowers including bee orchid. Butterflies we hope to see include small pearl-bordered fritillary, common blue, dingy skipper, large skipper, meadow brown and early migrants. At Tregantle Fort we will have a rare chance to see the unimproved grassland in this MoD-controlled area. Bring walking boots.

Meet at the viewing platform in the middle of the sea

From rock pools to open sea, the Looe Voluntary Marine Conservation Area supports an amazing variety of wildlife. What is it that connects seaweeds with sharks, dogwhelks with dolphins, and all of them with people? Come and see.

Turtles, sharks, seals, dolphins and whales are Cornwall's largest wild animals. They spend part of their lives with us in Cornish waters, but also travel to other areas of the world. Join us on World Oceans' Day for a look at our global connections. Early birds can help us to make a life-sized (over 2 metres!) leatherback turtle, and there will be arty party activities throughout the afternoon.
