2001 Habitat Appeal Prize Draw
Spend just a pound on one of our raffle tickets and you could win any one of our great prizes.
Don't forget that for every raffle ticket you buy, not only could you win a fantastic prize but you will be helping us in the battle to save Cornwall's wildlife and wild places. Remember each pound raised is worth, on average, ten times as much when we use it as partnership funding for Lottery and other grants.
First prize this year is a short break for a family of six at one of the environmental award-winning Weststar holiday parks. You can find details in the new member profile on page 8.
There are lots of other prizes, including a day with a keeper at Newquay Zoo. The winner of this unusual prize will have a great opportunity to get close to some of the animals in the zoo (but not the lions!). So if you have always wanted a meeting with a meerkat or a caper with a capybara, this is your chance.
If you want to increase your chances . . .
. . . and did not receive tickets with this magazine, or if you want more tickets for yourself or to sell to friends, please contact Margaret or myself. For further details of our prizes you can check out our website -
http//:www.wildlifetrust.org.uk/cornwall - or visit us at the Royal Cornwall Show on 13th, 14th and 15th September.
The Trust would like to thank the following companies and individuals for their support in donating prizes:
Weststar Holidays Ltd, Melanie Woodcock at Lyonesse Guest House, Land's End Hotel, Eden Project, Hall for Cornwall, Penmere Manor Hotel, Rose-in-Vale Hotel, Newquay Zoo, Dick Twinney, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Paradise Park and Rick Stein.
Caroline Viner
Many thanks to The Rooster and The Rat Gallery for its continuing help with fundraising. The gallery recently donated another £173 from sales of raffle tickets and Godrevy Cloud prints.
As ever, our members and supporters have found endless ways of contributing practically or financially to our conservation work in Cornwall. We hope you will find the following ideas and examples inspiring.
Many thanks to Weststar Holidays for donating the first prize in our draw - a short break for a family of six at one of its award-winning parks.
Thanks to you
New reserves
Thanks to your generous response to the latest appeal - over £18,000 at the time of writing - we have been able to purchase Priddacombe Downs on Bodmin Moor as a Trust nature reserve (with great help from the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Nature and the County Environmental Trust). This is our 51st reserve: we celebrated our 50th in January when we took on the lease for Quoit Heathland, near St Columb, from Cornwall County Council.

Happy Birthday Isabel
We would like to say a great big thank you to Isabel Hedges who celebrated a special birthday on 17th March. She very kindly asked all her friends to send in donations to the Trust in lieu of birthday presents ... what a lovely thought!

Tee off for wildlife

We are lucky to be benefiting from a Golf Day in support of the Trust at Perranporth Golf Club on 26th September. For those of you who know about these things, the competition will organised as follows: teams of three; Stableford points; two scores to count

(maximum handicap 24 men, 30 women). A carvery meal is included at a cost of £25 for the event (£75 a team). If you are interested in enjoying yourself in beautiful surroundings while supporting the Trust, give us a call for further information.
