The Cornwall Wildlife Trust has organised a visit under the guidance of the Head Gardener, Jonathan Jones, who will show us around this privately owned 60-acre botanical garden packed with some of the rarest and most unusual plants in the world.

Bring stout shoes and clothing suitable for anything the weather might produce on a late Saturday in March!

PUTTING BACK THE WILD HEART OF CORNWALL

Paul is the Community Involvement Manager of a team restoring the china clay pits in mid-Cornwall to original heathland - the largest landscape re-creation of its kind in Europe. He will illustrate the flora and fauna that we should find on heathland, describe the work done on the china clay pits to date and describe his plans for the future. He will also provide some guidance on monitoring our local heathland in North Cornwall. The talk will be followed a few weeks later by a guided walk through the evolving heathland in the St Austell area.

An illustrated talk by Tony Foster. Sadly, Tony's talk last October had to be cancelled due to a bout of flu, so he has kindly agreed to give it on this new date.
The internationally renowned landscape artist will be giving a talk ranging from volcanoes to icebergs, about his extensive painting travels. To capture the spirit of the wilderness, Tony has travelled to the remotest deserts, rainforest and volcanoes, and has just returned from ice-covered Greenland.
