Bats have been misunderstood, and even feared, for centuries. Here are a few facts that might make you feel better about bats!

  • Bats have been on this planet for more than 50 million years
  • They do not get entangled in your hair
  • They do not generally live in belfries
  • There are almost 1,000 species of bats in the world
  • Bats account for almost a quarter of the total of all mammal species in the world
  • In Britain our largest bat still only has a wing span of about 16"
