Wildlife goes wild on the world Wide Web

The new Cornwall Wildlife Trust web site, www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk, was launched on 6th June this year and within 17 days we had over 7,000 visitors from more than 50 different countries!

There is lots of enthusiasm for the site and we have great plans for future improvements. We have had lots of great feedback from our visitors - some of them web designers themselves!

I have also been busy this year on a number of other sponsored web site projects/ which has been hard work but great fun too.

The Cornwall Wealth of Wildlife (WoW) project/ www.cornwallwow.org.uk/ was launched in June with a special voting page to vote for your favourite Cornish wildlife. This was also promoted through the BBC Wildlife web site.

Together with Pam Tompsett/ I am developing the Helford Voluntary Marine Conservation Area's web site; www.helfordmarineconservation.co.uk/ to promote the excellent work they do.

The Cornwall Environmental Consultancy's site/ www.cec.gb.com, has also been slightly redesigned and brought up to date with the services they offer.

The most exciting project to date though/ is creating a web presence for the Environmental Records Centre for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, This should be 'live' by the time we go to press and available at

www.cornwallwildliferecords.co.uk. It will be a huge resource for recorders in the county.

In my spare time I also run the websites for the

Cornwall Moth Group www.cornwallmoth group.org.uk and the West Cornwall Badger Group members.aol.com/cornwallbadgers.

So don't forget/ when you're surfing in Cornwall - surf

for wildlife!
