Otters appeal to all ages

In this celebratory issue, we would like to show you some inspirational creative work by school children learning about that most appealing wild mammal, the otter.

The Cornwall Wildlife Trust aims to advise and inspire people of all ages. I was delighted to support Gill Long's over 50s Earthwatch application to join an otter project in Chile. On her return she was so enthused that she organised an Otter Spotter training day with me at Cardinham Primary School. Forty-seven children were enthralled by otters and the head teacher organised a poster and poetry competition. The results were overwhelming and I felt inspired by the children's work and imagination - as I hope you will be too.

All the entries were excellent. It was a very hard competition to judge, but here are the four winners: Demelza Smeeth Jordan Baker, Brooke Davis and Thomas Orton.
