THE PROPRIETORS
PENHAVEN TOURING PARK has been home to us, Ian and Angela Hackwell, and our family (twin sons, granny, and various dogs and cats) for over 10 years. In 1988, as the October mist from the White River crept along the Pentewan valley and swirled through the campsite, we immediately fell in love with the place, and in February 1989 we moved from the New Forest to Cornwall to start our new life here.
We have put our previous experience in marine electonics engineering and accountancy to good use in running, maintaining, and upgrading our 'haven of peace in the Cornish countryside' - Ian likes tinkering with the caravanners' 'land yachts', and Angela makes sure the money keeps coming in and stretches over the five months of the year when the site is closed. We have enjoyed the challenge of leaving the rat-race for a more relaxed and leisurely way of life, and hope that our approach rubs off on our visitors and helps to create a pleasant holiday atmosphere for duration of your stay.
However, it hasn't all been plain sailing. We are constantly striving to improve the facilities, (and hence, the 'holiday experience' for our customers) and to keep up with new standards of the various agencies and grading systems. (We are currently a Caravan Club site and listed with the AA, RAC, British Holiday and Home Parks Association, and British Graded Holiday Parks). At the moment we are working on making the site more environmentally-friendly, under a scheme initiated by David Bellamy, and have already been given a silver award.
We really do care about your stay with us, and take pride in being able to accommodate your needs, whether you want to relax, barbecue and stroll to the local pub in Pentewan, or try your hand at something more energetic, like windsurfing or cycling. Plus, we are always on hand and happy to give help and advice, in or out of office hours. We like to think that our level of care and commitment is shown in the fact that almost half of our customers have returned to PENHAVEN within two years, and several of those have become not just regulars, but friends.
We look forward to meeting you.
