Mevagissey

Three miles down the coast from PENHAVEN, is the quaint, picturesque, unspoilt fishing village of Mevagissey. Here you can explore the traditional narrow streets, buy local gifts and crafts, and taste the fresh local seafood. However, if you fancy trying your hand at catching your own supper, Mevagissey is the place to go. Many people buy a line and spend a pleasant afternoon fishing from the harbour wall, whilst others jump aboard one of the local fishing boats which are willing to take you out to the best fishing grounds. You'll see these trips advertised around the harbour, and the most popular catch is mackerel. Mevagissey can be reached via the coastal path or cycle trail from Pentewan, or by car and bus, however, bear in mind that the winding, one-way streets are best explored by foot. (There are several car parks just outside the centre which offer daily rates).
