The Cornish Way

Imagine travelling, not by car, but by bicycle (or on foot) along magestic cliffs, rolling countryside, quiet coves and visiting picturesque villages and historic towns. Cornwall County Council is responsible for a new project known as 'The Cornish Way' (due for completion in June 2000). This will form the Cornish leg of the National Cycle Network, and will cover the whole of the county, down to Land's End, with specialist signposted routes for cyclists, walkers, horse riders, and wheelchair users.

When completed, the Cornish Way will consist of 5 themed trails -'The St. Piran Trail'; 'The North Cornwall Trail'; 'The Coast and Clay Trail'; 'The Engine House Trail'; and 'The First and Last Trail'. Each one will link the local towns and villages with local heritage, wildlife, cultural, and major visitor attractions. They will be accessible from public transport routes, and ideal for both a leisurely day out or a long-distance trip: the whole network will cover 170 miles (275 km) of the county's most distinctive and scenic landscapes.
