With over 60 dishes on site, Goonhilly is the largest satellite station in the world. Able to transmit to every corner of the globe via space, and through undersea fibre optic cables, Goonhilly simultaneously handles millions of international phone calls, emails, and TV broadcasts. Our visitors centre provides a unique opportunity to explore the story of international communications. Learn why this is amazing site is here any why it is so important to us all. Using state of the art technology, we will take you on an eye opening journey, using interactive media, which will help you to explore some of the developments in international communication. Enjoy a unique voyage of discovery on our guided tour and take a closer look at some of the largest dishes on the site; surf the NET in our high speed internet zone; see yourself in outer space in our virtual image booth; operate a antenna dish for yourself - our exhibition area includes much more for you to experience and enjoy. The visitors centre has the Big Dish Café; Gift shop, communications outlet and indoor/outdoor childrens play area. |
