Welcome to the Sail Loft, an independently owned and run self catering holiday cottage to rent in St Ives. Historically used as a warehouse for the storage of nets and sails, the cottage is hidden away in the heart of the old fishing area of Downalong and is ideally placed for exploring the blue flag beaches and historic town of St Ives. The property retains the memory of its former use but now offers 21st Century comfort and amenities and enjoys a fantastic location less than three minutes’ walk from the beaches and harbour.

Ground Floor

As you enter the property there is a wet room with toilet and shower – perfect for washing off a sandy day at the beach. The entrance area is also the ideal place for storing beach paraphernalia. Walk down the slate steps to a stable door which opens into the large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area where you’ll find exposed granite pillars, a salvaged mast and the original sail loft staircase.

• Kitchen/ Diner: Well equipped kitchen includes double oven/grill, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, (with small freezer compartment), washing machine, belfast sink, ample storage and worktops, dining table and chairs for six.
• Lounge: Two comfortable leather sofas, two casual chairs, WiFi, TV with Freeview, DVD, Wii and iPod dock
• Bedroom 3: Double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table with lamp.

First Floor

The first floor of the Sail Loft is full of character with high ceilings and open beams giving an airy and spacious feel.

• Bedroom 1: Spacious double bedroom, (plenty of room for travel cot), furnished with antique pine wardrobe and chest of drawers. Casual chair, bedside table with lamp.
• Bedroom 2: Double bed, washbasin, wardrobe, chest of drawers.
• Family Bathroom: Large bathroom with toilet, bath and integrated shower.

Please note, due to the steps leading down into the property and the original open staircase to the first floor, this property is not ideal for people with mobility issues.

The Sail Loft enjoys a fantastic location right at the very heart of Downalong, the old fishing quarter of St Ives. Porthgwidden and Porthmeor beaches are both around 3 minutes walk away and the Harbour beach is only 60 yards from the front door.

The cobbled streets of the wharf with numerous galleries, boutiques, restaurants and bars are less than 5 minutes walk and the famous Sloop Inn is just a 2 minute downhill stroll.

Porthminster beach with its award winning cafe is a pleasant 15 minute walk away and when tides are very low, even less as you can walk straight out from the harbour across the sands - make sure you check the tide tables first!

A 5 minute walk will also take you to Tate St Ives.

Tucked away on Island Square, the Sail Loft is right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Downalong but at the same time offers complete privacy, it really is a hidden gem.
