This beautifull granite cottage is named after the local tin mine that dominated the area back in the mid 1800's and is situated in the secluded clifftop hamlet of Trowan. Hidden at the end of a cornish lane the tiny historic hamlet has been declared an area of outstanding natural beauty by The National Trust and is surrounded by acres of green Cornish meadows with sweeping sea views. Consols Rest is just a five minute drive or a lovely twenty minute countryside walk along the coast from the beaches, restaurants, cafes and bars of St Ives.
Recently converted from a former agricultural building Consols is now a luxurious retreat sleeping 4. The cottage has a fabulous open plan kitchen, dining, living area and two bedrooms, one king size en suite and a twin, a spacious bathroom with a second shower and a freestanding roll top bath plus sunny gardens front and rear. Private parking for two cars is also provided.

Consols Rest has been carefully restored creating a warm, contemporary feel whilst still retaining the character and charm of the original features. Soft painted plasterwork, exposed granite walls, timber boards, natural stone and cornish slate blend perfectly with top quality fixtures and fittings and the private front and rear gardens are surrounded by traditional cornish stone walls enhancing the stunning countryside and sunset views.
Exceptionally well equipped throughout with designer textiles and sumptuous soft furnishings, Consols provides high end holiday accommodation and is much more than a holiday let, a real home from home and somewhere uniquely special to take a hard earned break. The large open plan living area has Widescreen LCD TV with Freeview and DVD player, Bose soundsystem, Ipod dock and wireless internet connection, the telephone allows local and incoming calls The handbuilt kitchen has granite surfaces, all the equipment you could possibly need and every kind of facility that the modern family require: range style cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer; the essential corkscrew and bottle opener are stored within easy reach of the 24 bottle wine/drinks chiller. The dining table is perfectly positioned and easily seats 4.
A separate utility area has a washer/dryer, freezer and space for any outdoor gear or kit for the beach, there is also a downstairs wc.

The master bedroom has a 5ft double bed and a vaulted en suite with walk in Grohe drench shower. French doors open out onto a small balcony revealing stunning countryside views.
The second bedroom features twin 3ft beds and can also accommodate a cot (blackout blinds are fitted so the kids hopefully won't wake too early)
A fabulous main bathroom has a freestanding double ended rolltop bath, just the place to relax after a day of sea and surf and a second, separate large walk in shower which makes Consols ideal for families or couples.

Additional Information
There is plenty of outside space, the front and rear patios both have seating, the front catches the morning sun. A barbecue and patio furniture, including a dining table and chairs, are all provided, enjoy a glass of wine as you watch the sun go down or gather the family for some al fresco dining. Guests have private parking for 2 cars at the gated entrance; the main site is traffic free. Children have acres of fields to play in and explore and a large selection of cds/dvds, board games and books suitable for all ages will help keep everyone entertained.
Keeping with the mood of modern times an on site recycling facility is provided, strangely it always seems to be the bottle banks that fill up quickest !
There are 5 sandy beaches within five minutes of the cottage and numerous restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. The cobbled streets of St Ives are lined with interesting shops to browse and art lovers are spoiled for choice with the range of studios and galleries. For walkers there is easy access to the coastal path and a network of inland pathways literally on your doorstep.
Holiday time is precious and we want you to start to relax from the very first moment you arrive. What could be more relaxing after a long journey than arriving to find the cottage beautifully prepared and a complimentary bottle of wine waiting in the chiller. Help yourself to a cup of freshly ground coffee or choose from a selection of teas in your welcome hamper, you will find some local treats to tempt you too.
Your holiday represents a significant investment and we provide all our guests a personal individual service. Pre order your groceries and we will receive, check and unpack them all ready for your arrival. Our personal chef can provide a variety of dining options. Holisitic and beauty treatments are available from our experienced therapists in the privacy of the cottage. Linen and towels are provided and we offer the option of reserved parking in the heart of St Ives.

Bookings are Friday to Friday, short breaks and flexible arrival/departure days are available outside of peak weeks, please enquire.

The gated community of Trowan comprises of a dozen individual cottages, most of which are private second homes. Predating St Ives by several hundred years and in its heyday, during the eighteenth century, Trowan was home to more than a hundred people. In more recent years the hamlet fell into disrepair. Recently restored in close conjunction with The National Trust the ruined cottages have been carefully and beautifully restored to their former glory.
Short breaks are available.

AUTUMN/WINTER BREAKS Fully centrally heated with traditional cast iron radiators the cottage is perfectly suited to a cosy winter break. Close up the shutters, light the candles and snuggle on the sofa, there is huge library of dvds and cds to choose from or browse through our selection of cookery books and fiction by local authors. There are miles of bracing clifftop walks literally on your doorstep and easy access to the coastal path. SPRING BREAKS Consistently a couple of degrees warmer than the rest of the country, make the most of the early sunshine and longer days. The beaches are quiet and the award winning restaurants less busy. The pretty harbour town of St Ives will be bustling with activity as usual. |
