| Consols Rest - St Ives - Sleeps 4 |
| This exceptional granite cottage is named after
the local tin mine that dominated the area back in the mid 1800's
and is situated in the secluded clifftop hamlet of Trowan. The tiny
historic hamlet has been declared an area of outstanding natural beauty
by The National Trust and is surrounded by acres of green Cornish
meadows with sweeping sea views. Consols Rest is just a two minute
drive or a lovely twenty minute, countryside walk, from St Ives. |
| The cottage has recently been converted from a
former agricultural building and now provides luxury holiday accommodation,
the perfect setting for a relaxing break whatever the season. |
| Inside, the cottage is beautifully restored and
has a warm, contemporary feel with natural slate floors to the ground
floor and timber boards alongside natural stone upstairs contrasting
beautifully with exposed granite and soft painted plasterwork. |
| Outside, the private rear garden has craftsmen
built traditional Cornish stone walls and spectacular sunset views.
The pretty patio and garden to the front of the cottage catches the
morning sun. |
|
|
| Furnishings and fittings throughout are very high
quality; the large open plan living area has Widescreen LCD TV with
Freeview and DVD player, Bose soundsystem/Ipod dock and wireless internet
connection. The handbuilt kitchen has granite surfaces, is exceptionally
well equipped and offers every kind of facility that the modern family
require: range style cooker, microwave, dishwasher and the essential
corkscrew and bottle opener are stored within easy reach of the 24
bottle wine/drinks chiller. The dining table is perfectly positioned
and easily seats 4. |
| A separate utility area provides a freezer, full
washing/drying facilities and it also includes a downstairs wc. |
| The two bedrooms comfortably sleep 4. The master
bedroom has a 5ft double bed and a luxury en suite with a walk in
Grohe drench shower and French doors that open out onto a small balcony
revealing stunning countryside views. The second bedroom features
twin 3ft beds and can also accommodate a cot. The fabulous main bathroom
has a freestanding double ended rolltop bath, just the place to relax
after a day of sea and surf and a second, separate, walk in shower
makes Consols ideal for both families and couples. |
|
|
| A barbecue, loungers and patio furniture, including
a dining table and chairs, are all provided. Guests have private parking
for 2 cars at the gated entrance; the main site is traffic free. Children
have acres of fields to play in and explore and a large selection
of cds/dvds, board games and books suitable for all ages will help
keep everyone entertained. |
| Keeping with the mood of modern times an on site
recycling facility is provided, strangely it always seems to be the
bottle bank section that fills up quickest ! |
| There are 5 sandy beaches within five minutes
of the cottage and numerous restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars. The
cobbled streets of St Ives are lined with interesting shops to browse
and art lovers are spoiled for choice with the range of studios and
galleries. For walkers there is easy access to the coastal path and
the network of inland pathways. |
| Complete Luxury |
 |
 |
| The ancient manor of Trowan predates
St Ives by several hundred years and in its heyday, during
the eighteenth century, was home to more than a hundred
people. In more recent years the hamlet fell into disrepair.
Recently restored in close conjunction with The National
Trust the ruined cottages have been carefully and beautifully
restored to their former glory. |
 |
| Today, still hidden at the end of
a traditional Cornish lane to the west of St Ives, Trowan
is a very private community made up of a dozen unique
cottages, most of which are private, second family homes.
