Background
A historic fortified hilltop providing spectacular 360 degree
views over the glorious Cornish Coast.
The History - This exclusive lodge development
is set around the Whitsand Bay Battery that was established in
1890, in a commanding position offering spectacular views over
Whitsand Bay on one side, and towards Plymouth Sand on the other.
The Raleigh Battery, as it was otherwise known, is one of the
series of forts constructed as a defensive position to Napoleon
III, the nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The fort was designed to protect the western approaches to Plymouth,
which was a strategic naval target.
The Battery, which was commissioned by Lord Palmerston in 1860
has a labyrinth of tunnels and underground chambers which run
beneath the surrounding land.
The 21st Century - The surroundings to the battery are
to provide an innovative development of 70 high quality 2, 3 and
4 bed holiday lodges with unparalleled panoramic views over Cornish
Coast, or the surrounding countryside.
The holiday lodges offer an ideal weekend or holiday retreat,
but can also provide an income stream for those wishing to secure
an alternative form of property investment.
Whitsand Bay Developments Limited will offer purchasers the option
of placing their lodge into a rental scheme, providing a guaranteed
income for up to 3 years.

The Design Concept
The lodges at Whitsand Bay are being developed on a unique, historic
site, and will enable the original fortifications to be improved
and preserved as a central feature.
The layout of each lodge has been designed to maximise privacy
and provide many of them with a view over the sea or surrounding
landscapes.
Each area of the site will be landscaped to the highest standard,
to ensure an attractive environment for lodge owners and occupiers.
Central car parking areas will provide a car free environment
around the lodges, and high specification gated security systems
will ensure that lodge owners will enjoy peace and quiet whilst
at Whitsand Bay, and peace of mind when away from the site.
This exclusive, high quality environment is being developed within
one of the most accessible and attractive parts of Cornwall. The
beach at Whitsand Bay is at the base of the cliff opposite the
site, and offers one of the county’s longest and most attractive
stretch of sand, extending for miles along the sunny south coast.

Ideal Programme
There are only 70 lodges at Whitsand Bay, and these will be released
in 3 phases, to ensure that high standards are maintained throughout,
and to minimise disruption to completed areas. Following completion
of phase 1, comprehensive re-development of the existing amenities
located in the centre of the site will be undertaken.
All of the lodges benefit from breathtaking views, and each one
can be tailored to your individual requirements, chosen from a
range of options.
Completion of phase 1 is scheduled for March 2005, to ensure
that holiday homeowners can enjoy the warm summer months, or that
‘buy to let’ investors can benefit from the peak holiday letting
seasons.
Phases 2 and 3 will follow during 2005 and 2006, in parallel
with provision of improved bar, restaurant, swimming pool and
shop facilities.

How To Reach Whitsand Bay Lodge Park By Road
From the A38:
On reaching Plymouth, head for the Torpoint Ferry. Torpoint
ferries run continuously which is a seven minute ride. No toll
to pay (into Cornwall). On Leaving the ferry at Torpoint keep
with the traffic on the main road for approximately three miles
until you reach a fork in the road at Antony (first village).
Take the left fork marked 'Millbrook' (B3247) and continue on
this road for approximately miles until you meet a main 'T' junction.
Turn left at the 'T' junction and travel for about quarter of
a mile, where you see a sign post marked 'Whitsand Bay', turn
right and take the coast road overlooking the bay, continue along
it for two miles until a gradient is reached. A few yards past
the top of the hill on your left is Donkey Lane with the sign
'Whitsand Bay Holiday & Lodge Park', turn left and next left again,
this road leads to the Reception.
Or from the Tamar Bridge:
Carry on to Trerulefoot roundabout, turn left and follow signs
to Millbrook until you pick up the sign to 'Whitsand Bay' as above.
