St Ives offers a range of interests to the visitor. Its quaint cobbled streets flanked by picturesque fishermans’s cottages give away its history of the sea. In past years fishing was the prime economy in St. Ives and the port still boasts a small fishing fleet which catch a range of “fruits of the sea” that can be seen landed daily on the quay. There are many art galleries in the town which still has a thriving artists’ colony.

In 1995 The Tate Gallery opened its striking building overlooking Porthmeor beach and this has become a major draw to visitors who visit the town.
