If you are looking for a unique “loft style” period property which has been recently renovated and styled using an eclectic mix of antique and retro furnishings then look no further than The Works in Penzance! Dating back to the mid 1800’s, this Victorian mews property was formerly a stable and coach works (hence the name) housing a selection of horse drawn carriages which were rented by Victorian ladies who wished to tour the Land’s End peninsula and sample the fresh sea air and stunning scenery!

Converted this year from a Victorian coach and horse stable, this brand new two bedroom holiday let (one super king/or twin beds and one king bed) has it's very own unique style. On the first floor a large open-plan kitchen\living room retains all the original features - exposed brick walls, a high beamed ceiling and polished wooden floors. Sunlight floods in from south facing windows and rooflights. There is a suntrap balcony for your early evening drink. A varied collection of local paintings and photography personalizes this quirky building, and much emphasis is put on those important little details such as good reading lights by the bed, a quality stereo, an i-pod connection, a big TV, nice bedding, interesting books and magazines, a range cooker with a large wok ring and all the kitchen stuff you'll ever need (sharp knives, a cafetiere and a garlic press !). And yes, there's a private parking space outside.

Situated
The street itself is very quiet, one end leads onto Morrab Gardens, famous for its sub-tropical planting and views over the sea; whilst the other end is a few moments away from Penlee Park and it's museum and tennis courts. Only another five minutes walk and you are on the seafront where you can swim in the fabulous Jubilee pool, the last open-air art deco bathing pool in the country.
Penzance
Penzance is a lively and very friendly market town with some excellent restaurants and independent shops nearby in historic Chapel Street. The locally-owned 3 screen cinema is one of the oldest in the country. We are proud of the newly opened Exchange gallery - the largest new art space in the South West. Many smaller galleries have since sprung up to complement it. A good bus and mainline train service operates within a short distance of the property and a scenic railway takes you on a spectacular trip to St Ives with it's world famous beaches, restaurants and, of course, the Tate Gallery. Other excellent beaches can be enjoyed nearby at Marazion and at Sennen where there is a good surf school. Fresh fish and shellfish are landed daily at Newlyn, only half a mile away.
Location
The Works is perfectly located for a walking holiday with the dramatic coastal path and heather-clad moors being on your doorstep. A memorable afternoon can be spent walking along the beach to St Michael's Mount with its must-see castle and gardens. If you are interested in stone circles and ancient burial sites then we have one of the highest concentrations anywhere in Britain, The Acorn Theatre is practically on your doorstep and the Minnack Theatre, carved into the cliffs at Porthcurno, has the crashing Atlantic ocean as a dramatic backdrop.
