Welcome to Creel Cottage
An artists home in the heart of Mousehole, West Cornwall
![]() |
Mousehole, a picturesque conservation area, was described by Dylan Thomas as the loveliest village in England. Creel Cottage (dating from the 18th Century or earlier) is a Grade II listed, former fisherman’s loft in the heart of Mousehole, a few paces from the harbour – also renowned for its immense charm.
Tucked away in an 'ope' (Cornish for a type of courtyard), this two-bedroomed cottage benefits from its own private sunny garden, accessed via a stable door from the sitting room.

Creel Cottage - Sleeps 4
Two Double Bedrooms I Sitting Room I Kitchen I Bathroom I Garden
Creel Cottage is an artist's home, decorated with an eclectic mixture of pictures, fabrics and furniture. Downstairs there is one double bedroom and the bathroom. Upstairs there is a large, bright sitting room with stable door leading to the garden, a kitchen with dining area, and the other double bedoom.
The cottage overlooks a courtyard (making it both private & quiet – unusual for a village house) and it also enjoys the benefit of a long pleasant garden where one can sit out. The garden leads to the adjacent street (where one could briefly park a car to unload bags). Local parking is between £2 - £3 per day and there are weekly passes.
Unfortunately Creel Cottage is not setup for children under 12 years old, also we are a non smoking cottage and we do not allow pets.

How to find us
Creel Cottage is found near the harbour front. After the Ship Inn, turn right into Brook Street. Just beyond the gallery/shop called Julia, on the left, you enter the ope (a small tunnel, with a sign saying “Pilot’s Cottage). Creel Cottage, no. 7 Brook Street, is on the right of the pretty courtyard beyond.
