Rezare Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast offers comfortable, characterful,
peaceful accommodation with an emphasis on good food and sustainability.
We have received 4 stars, a Silver Award, and a Breakfast Award
from Visit Britain, and a Green Tourism Gold Award. Dogs are
welcome.
Situated within the Tamar Valley on the Cornwall / Devon border,
midway between Bodmin moor and Dartmoor, you will be perfectly
placed to explore the region's many and varied attractions,
which include beautiful walking, horse riding and cycling country;
canoeing, sailing, salmon and sea trout fishing on the River
Tamar; stunning coastlines; many places of historical interest;
and a strong regional food culture.
Peaceful Location
The small hamlet of Rezare is nestled above the Inny Valley,
in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a peaceful and
relaxed environment which, although only 5 miles from Launceston
and Callington, and within easy reach of the main roads which
connect to wherever you wish to go, is far enough from the rush
of modern life to allow you to instantly forget that it exists,
and is the ideal, restful base to return to after your days
out exploring.
Although no longer a working farm, the surrounding area is entirely
agricultural, which means that on the rare occasions that any
traffic passes through, it is almost guaranteed to be a tractor.
The extensive birdlife produces a variety of sound which is
a joy to wake up to.
On clear days both Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor are visible from
many points around the hamlet, with Kit Hill dominating the
view from most bedrooms and the dining room / guests' lounge.
A short walk away is the River Tamar, its wooded valley meandering
down towards Plymouth, passing on its way many beautiful and
interesting areas to visit, including Calstock, Morwellham Quay
and Cothele House, to name just a few.
Characterful Farmhouse
The house itself is full of character, with many original features
still in place. The main section was built some time in the
mid - late 1600's, with two extensions added during the Georgian
era. It was constructed in the same way that most traditional
Cornish farmhouses of the period were, with a mixture of slate,
granite, and whatever other stone was to hand being used for
the walls on the ground floor, mud and straw on the first floor.
Comfortable Bedrooms
All rooms are generously sized, retain many orginal features
throughout, contain touches of luxury in the important areas,
and are furnished to a high standard with very comfortable beds
and practical antiques. In addition to a colour television with
freeview, we also supply a high quality, vintage Hacker radio,
and a hairdryer. Ironing facilities are available upon request.
Guests have access to our free wifi network thoughout the house.
The beds in all of our rooms have simple, sturdy wooden frames
with high quality individually pocket sprung mattresses, bed
linen is 100% Egyptian cotton, the blankets are beautifully
soft pure virgin wool, and we offer both goose feather and down,
and non-allergenic pillows. Each bed is also covered with one
of Nanette's hand-made quilts.
Each room has ensuite facilities which comprise either a shower
or bath ( or both, in the single room ), with handmade soaps,
a selection of high quality toiletries, and large cotton towels.
Excellent Breakfasts
Breakfast makes use of the fact that Launceston has an excellent
butcher who make their own delicious sausages and cure their
own bacon. Pure apple juice is produced from fruit grown within
a three mile radius of the house, eggs come from our own chickens,
we bake fresh bread daily, make our own fruit compote, yoghurt
and granola, and have a range of home-made preserves.
As well as the traditional full English breakfast we offer alternatives
such as kippers, or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs.
Evening Meals
Three-course meals are available most nights, freshly prepared
by Nanette, who spent 20 years cooking professionally. The menus,
which change daily, make full use of the fact that we have many
excellent producers and suppliers of meat, fish, vegetables
and cheeses locally. We use seasonal produce whenever possible
and use ingredients that speak for themselves, cooking them
simply and with care, with the minimum of fuss.
All special dietary requirements are catered for, and if you
have any particular likes or dislikes, we will be happy to take
them into consideration.
We are licensed, and stock a range of award-winning, locally
produced wines, beers and ciders.
Our aim is that you should feel comfortable and well-looked-after,
in relaxed surroundings, and look forward to welcoming you to
our home. |
