OASIS Since our beginnings in the 1970s, we have left most areas of the railway
untouched by herbicides and other chemicals and have allowed wild flowers to recolonise
the track bed. Even part of our car park is a wild flower meadow where
plants have managed to establish themself on the less heavily used areas and includes
some species which are now nationally rare. | | Apart
from the main areas of our attraction we leave the habitat to grow as naturally
as possible to maintain a rich variety. Increasingly we take account of the natural
environment in the way that we manage our attraction and visitors should be able
to see a wide variety of plants which attract and feed birds, butterflies, dragonflies
and other beneficial insects.
