| HOLIDAY IN CORNWALL |
| St Mawes - A Cornish Gem. |
| St Mawes is located on the southern
coast of Cornwall, the UK's mildest county, where
daffodils begin to bloom in January. A quaint fishing
village, St Mawes sits on the tip of the Roseland
Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
that remains largely unspoilt by commercial influence.
A local landmark is St Mawes Castle, one of two
"sentinels" that served as guardians of the Carrick
Roads waterway back in the days of Henry VIII, the
other being Pendennis Castle in Falmouth. From here
the views are magnificent and coastal walking is
hugely enjoyable - a camera really is a necessity
here. |
 |
| THE IDLE ROCKS HOTEL |
 |
| The Idle Rocks Hotel sits on
the edge of St Mawes' harbour wall - it isn't possible
to get any closer to the water unless you are on
it! |
 |
| The view from the hotel is
the Cornish dream brought to life: a small, idyllic
harbour, narrow lanes of tidy fisherman's cottages,
green fields that slope down to the sea and lovely
sandy beaches. |
 |
| The Idle Rocks is a luxury hotel
in Cornwall with a long standing reputation for
good food. The hotel's Water's Edge restaurant,
with its magnificent water views, has held 2 AA
Rosettes for more than 15 years. |
 |
| The range of activities and
days out that can be enjoyed is varied though it
is perfectly acceptable - de riguer with many -
to simply do nothing but relax and be happy in the
beauty that surrounds you. |
 |
 |
 |
| THE HOTEL |
 |
| The location of The Idle Rocks
hotel is picture perfect. In the heart of St Mawes,
"capital" of the Roseland Peninsular, The Rocks,
as it is affectionately known, offers guests a fabulous
setting with wonderful views, comfortable rooms
all individually decorated, superb dining, good
hospitality and space to relax and de-stress. |
 |
| For much of the year guests
can enjoy the outdoors and harbour activity from
a front row position on the hotel's spacious waterside
terrace. During the few colder months Cornwall experiences,
guests can seek the comforts of the lounge with
its real log fire. The Idle Rocks is a year round
destination and the winter months attract visitors,
many whom return year after year in the hope of
some exciting storm watching from a ringside seat!
|
 |
| The Idle Rocks is a good base
for visiting the southern part of Cornwall. It is
surprisingly accessible to a number of key attractions
and recommended places to visit and the nice thing
is that a car isn't mandatory once you're here.
Water transport is a pleasant means of travel around
here and a novel way to visit Truro, Falmouth, Cornish
gardens such as Trellisick, Glendurgan and Trebah
or simply to take a different coastal walk and tuck
into lunch at a gastro pub along the Fal river.

the land and the sea. The restaurant has its loyal
