The St Ives Bay SK2

The St Ives Bay SK2 is a beautifully converted BR Mark 1 Corridor Coach adjacent to the platform at Hayle railway station on the coast of West Cornwall, UK, 5 miles from St Ives. A sympathetic conversion to self catering holiday accommodation means this carriage retains most of its original features. It is within easy walking distance of the golden sands of Hayle beach, Paradise Park and a wonderful array of Hayle restaurants. Public transport is good with both train and bus access easy. The carriage is divided into two holiday homes, each with its own kitchen, lounge/diner/bedroom, bathroom and bunkroom (the East End has an additional double bedroom). By booking both lets, it has the capacity to accommodate two families or larger groups of friends. On-site there are swings and the enclosed grounds around the carriage are spacious - plenty of room for den making as well as viewing the trains! Outside of the school holidays the West End can be added as an extra to the East for only £120.

Our prices are for the accommodation (not per person) and are totally inclusive. Electricity, heating etc. is included as is the use of bed linen (duvets, covers, sheets etc) and towels.

In addition to the above the West end also features a wc/shower compartment whilst the East end has a conventional double bed compartment and separate WC and shower rooms.

Both lets have their own kitchen, and if you're renting the whole carriage having two can be very useful. This BR Mark 1 coach features a carriage-long corridor with double closing doors to seal out the other let if you're only in one end. The fully enclosed and private garden area outside features a swing-set, bbq area, washing line and swingball. An enclosed wild garden at the end of the site provides a habitat for a large variety of butterflies, as well as being the perfect place for children to make hideouts.

All our carriages run on green energy and offer full recycling facilities. Our prices include all fuel and linen. We also promote the use of public transport and offer a £25 cashback incentive to guests arriving by those means.

Disability and Accessability
We do our best to accommodate everyone within the confines of the accommodation. Autistic children and adults are very welcome. We have a smoke alarm for the deaf, available at no extra charge on request. Guide dogs for the blind are free. From 2013 we hope to have a carriage fitted for wheelchair users.

Saturday Changeover
Out changeover day for the SK2 is on Saturday, but we are happy to be flexible during off peak periods.
