Our other coach, The Travelling Post Office, featured on the BBC's Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo and this Victorian coach is a real gem. Clerestory windows run along the full length of the coach and give a really special feeling of light and space, while retaining the cosiness of a wooden coach. Children love the bunkroom with its tiny windows looking out over the railway, and the garden is a mass of roses in the summer.

The country village of St Germans has everything you could want to make your holiday complete - bracing walks, a well stocked community shop and post office, a friendly pub serving great food, a super children's play park and a recreational ground with skate and bike area for teenagers. The country estate of Port Eliot opens its doors between March and July and has a beautiful woodland garden and tea rooms. The Norman church and pretty quay make it no surprise this village nestles in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It also has Special Scientific Interest rating on account of the diversity of bird life along the river. Less than ten miles from the fishing villages of Looe, Polperro, Kingsand and Cawsand, the nearest beaches are just four miles away and accessible by bus and foot. |
