St Minver
is a great place to use as a base for your holiday. A drive of
less than 2 miles will take you to Rock Sands. Here you can hire
a boat or learn with the Camel Sailing school. There are banana
boat rides, canoeing and water - skiing. A passenger Ferry can
take you to Padstow.
Follow the coastal path around to Daymer bay where you
will find St Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand dunes now
restored, it is also the final resting place of Sir John Betjamin.
Nearby is St Enodoc Golf club an enviable place to play golf on
the cliffs with natural bunkers so I'm told. The beach here is
very popular with families and has a private car park open from
9am to 9pm with shop, cafe and beach hire.
Follow the coastal path onwards to Polzeath. A
well guarded local secret, this beach has it all, swimmers, sandcastle
builders and surfers of all kinds enjoy its flat sandy beach.
Surf gear is available to hire and there is easy parking on the
beach. There is an abundance of places to eat from snack bars
to sea view restaurants and cliff top pubs catering for all tastes.
If you have had enough of sand between your toes
and want to give your suntan a chance to cool off there are many
places to visit away from the coast. Travel back to Wadebridge
a busy market town, the bridge said to be built on sacks of wool,
has since been rebuilt with stronger stuff and has opened up a
beautiful area along the estuary with restaurants and shops. Wadebridge
is a central point for the "Camel Trail"
once the old railway line from Bodmin to Padstow an 18 mile stretch
following the course of the river Camel Popular with walkers,
cyclists and horse riders alike this level path takes you through
stunning scenery. There are many places to stop and catch you
breath and refuel with a light lunch or a delicious cream tea.
Bike hire available from Bridge bike hire has a great selection
from trikes and tandems to trailers and tagalongs.

Padstow can
be reached by trail, road or passenger ferry from Rock, this pretty
fishing harbour is home to the Obby Oss who dances in the street
on May Day, visit the Lobster Hatchery, stroll around the delightful
harbour or treat yourselves to lunch at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant,
advanced bookings advisable for evening meals. Don't hurry back,
use the Evening Water Taxi between 7pm and Midnight.
Head inland to Bodmin and cool off in the dungeons of
the old county Jail or hop on a steam train for a Pasty special
or Murder Mystery ride. You can even see Thomas the Tank engine
and the Fat Controller. Pencarrow House an historic Georgian house
and gardens still occupied by the Molesworth - St Aubyns. Lanhydrock
House gives you a glimpse of Victorian life with 50 rooms on show
Upstairs to Downstairs.
Bodmin Moor is steeped in legend. Hut circles, ancient
rocking stones, granite tors including Brown Willy our only mountain.
Take the popular Pub ride from Hallagenna stables to Blisland
and visit the Camra award winning Blisland Inn while the horses
rest on the village green. If all the fresh moor land air has
given you an appetite why not visit The Potter's Barn at Wenford
Bridge where they provide a mix of Mediterranean and Cornish fare
- from Tapas and pizzas to grilled fish & steaks all served
on plates made at the Pottery using a blend of Cornish clays.
Finally a visit to Cornwall wouldn't be complete without
a visit to the Eden Project. Book "fast track" ticket's
when you arrive at reception enabling you to jump the queues and
enjoy a full day. Explore majestic rainforest's, the Mediterranean,
South Africa and California all under the magnificent structure
of the Biomes. Science meets Art & Technology in a Living
Theatre of Plants & People. Prepare to be amazed.
