Dinghy Sailing
Much of our tuition takes place aboard single or double handed dinghies, with an instructor aboard or close by to guide you through those early stages. Our Laser 2000s are a great training boat and optional asymmetric sailing for more exciting sailing. Our 16 foot Wayfarer dinghies are of a tried and tested design, still the popular choice of many sailing schools. The boats are roomy and stable, yet responsive and manoeuvrable, making the class an ideal teaching boat.
The more experienced sailors can take advantage of the Laser 2000s with asymmetric sail, more performance orientated this boat will give a great introduction into spinnaker sailing. The younger sailors and smaller adults may use our Picos or Toppers with specially designed sails to reduce power, making life easier and the boat more stable. A popular choice for the solo sailor.

Children seem to get more from the group atmosphere of our holiday courses (N.B novice sailors will still benefit from our small student/instructor ratios, even on these courses). We also run children’s expedition sessions on Sundays. This is Swallows and Amazons’ for real - climb aboard, hoist the Jolly Rodger, and set sail for an unknown shore.

More fun, more adventure, more of a holiday!

J24 or similar Racing Keelboat
Now you can try a racing Keelboat. Real Sailors often dominate Grand Prix events such as the Americas Cup and the Olympics. Come and experience the thrill and ease of such a boat.

Enhance your racing skills or alternatively, let your skipper take the strain, whilst you sit back and enjoy a ‘Sail Away Day.’ stopping at an isolated beach, or waterside pub for lunch.

Safety First
We are inspected annually by the Royal Yachting Association to determine that we meet their strict standards.
This means that you can be assured that all craft will be properly maintained and equipped, and that all our staff are properly qualified and experienced. We have also been inspected and granted a license by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, which enables us to offer sailing activities to children and young people. On day trips your skipper is will be a licensed boatman, who has undergone an examination conducted by the local Harbour Master.

A Guide to The Royal Yachting Association
National Sailing Scheme
The Royal Yachting Association has developed the National Sailing Scheme over many years to help people of all abilities get the most from their sport. From an introduction (Level 1) through the basic Skills (Level 2) and beyond, your enjoyment will increase as your competence grows, and sound advice and good tuition will help you to progress more rapidly. .

Younger Sailors begin by working their way through the Start Sailing Courses (Stages 1-4), and then on to Advanced Sailing Badges, with racing and seamanship options running individually or side by side.

The National Sailing Scheme is progressive - you cannot learn the more advanced skills until the basics have been mastered. There are seven different stages covering all the skills required by the fully competent dinghy or keelboat sailor.
