Tranquil and remote and yet in equal measure mysterious and dramatic the ancient upland Moor is a timeless place where it is easy to spend days of peace away from all the pace and pressures of the modern world. Wild ponies graze side by side with sheep and cattle and children love the sense of freedom and are fascinated by the wildlife. Bodmin Moor is one of the least eroded moors in Europe; the ancient natural landscape can feel both unexplored and uninhabited and you may not see another soul all day. The Moor can be all things to everyone who appreciates its haunting and mysterious beauty.

The Camel Trail commences a mile and a half from East Rose and adds a whole dimension to cycling in Cornwall by providing a splendid recreational, off road, route from the edge of the Moor to the Atlantic Ocean at Padstow. Following the easy gradients of now closed railways the Trail follows the River Camel down its beautiful valley to the superb golden beaches of Padstow; the final stretch of the trail along the widening Camel Estuary is one the most beautiful vistas in the West Country.

The cycles come with an easy to use map which is designed to enhance your experience of the Moor. It shows all the lanes and by ways and pinpoints the many sites of interest; it also highlights the short distance from East Rose to the start of the Camel Trail.
