 |
| The north coast of
Cornwall and the area around Polzeath/Rock/Port Isaac in particular,
is an area of outstanding natural beauty and provides a wealth of
activities for all ages and all seasons. |
| Rock is close
by with its array of food and clothing shops as well as its sailing
club and water ski school. Set back from the beach is St Enodoc golf
club, a links course offering unbeatable views of the Camel Estuary.
|
| Daymer Bay
is a great beach for young children in particular as it lacks the
big waves of Polzeath. The beautiful church of St Enodoc, made famous
by the poet Sir John Betjeman, is nestled in the sand dunes nearby.
|
| Polzeath is
a traditional family seaside village with one of the best and safest
surfing beaches in Cornwall. There are two surf schools located on
the beach for beginners and improvers alike. |
| Port Isaac
is a charming fishing village surrounding a picturesque harbour with
whitewashed houses crowding the narrow streets and alleyways. It is
the location for TV series Doc Martin and is a great place to go for
fresh fish, art galleries and gift shops. |
| Padstow can
be reached by road or by ferry across the estuary from Rock. It is
a picturesque harbour surrounded by clothes, food and gift shops as
well as numerous eateries including Rick Stein’s famous Seafood Restaurant,
the Rick Stein Bistro and the Rick Stein Fish & Chip shop. |
| Wadebridge
is a bustling market town on the River Camel. It offers a wide variety
of things to do including river walks, shopping, eating and indoor
and outdoor leisure facilities. It is also the gateway to the Camel
Trail – a flat, virtually traffic-free cycle path which runs from
Bodmin to Padstow. Bikes can be hired in Wadebridge (the half way
point) as well as the two towns either end. |
