| About Porthleven |
| The most southerly port in the
United Kingdom, Porthleven is a historic 18th Century fishing
port set in the sweep of Mounts Bay. This charming village is
renowned as a holiday destination offering peaceful surroundings,
excellent food and beautiful sea views. |
| During the summer months, an
abundance of wild flowers adorn the cliff tops, the warmth of
the sun penetrates the soft sea breezes and the majesty of the
coastline makes it one of the most beautiful places on earth. |
| In winter, the seas can be spectaculary
dramatic and the cliff tops stretching from Lands End to The
Lizard attract walkers all year round. The clock tower, of the
Bickford-Smith Institute, built in 1883 stands sentinel over
the unspoilt harbour. |
| A great variety of restaurants,
bars and authentic fisherman’s pubs offer menus to suit all
tastes and price levels. From the contemporary Smoke House with
its outdoor barbecue to the 17th Century Ship Inn. From local
produce and seafood through to traditional Cornish pasties,
Fish & Chips and homemade ice-cream, the village has a well
deserved reputation for food and drink. |
