Directly across the little coastal road, is the magnificent beach at Porthcothan Bay that offers excellent surfing and bathing. This award-winning beach is quieter than others on the popular North Cornwall coast and is perfect for families as lifeguards patrol in the summer months. Children will enjoy the rock pools and parents will appreciate the cleanliness of the sand. There is a family run beach shop at Porthcothan that will provide adequate day-to-day provisions. (Don’t forget to try the delicious pasties for lunch!) |

| Porthcothan Bay is ideally situated 4 miles south of the popular harbour town of Padstow. Padstow offers an amazing range of places to eat out, including Rick Stein’s famous seafood restaurant. (Wise to reserve a table prior to your holiday) Lively Newquay is 8 miles to the south along the spectacular coastal road. There are numerous beaches here to explore at your leisure. Further afield, there are many other attractions such as the Eden Project. Even a day trip to the Isles of Scilly is possible! Golf is available at the famous Trevose Head golf club a few miles away. Despite its ideal location, Porthcothan Bay, being surrounded by National Trust land, remains a quiet, uncommercialised spot to retreat to at the end of a hectic day’s sightseeing. |
