Welcome to The Penzance House

Lovely Victorian townhouse

Available for rent July and August, Sleeps 6-8

Our Victorian home is situated in the historic Cornish town of Penzance, a superb base for exploring the beautiful coastline and cosy fishing villages of West Cornwall.

We welcome families (being parents ourselves to two young children!) and can provide a stylish, yet comfortable home with child-friendly touches.

The back of the house overlooks Morrab Tropical Gardens and is situated just a few minutes walk from the promenade, the art deco lido, Penzance tennis club, Penlee Park and the town centre with its many shops and restaurants. Newlyn fishing harbour is close by as are Sennen Cove, St Ives, Lands End, St Michaels Mount and the famous coastal path with its many secret coves to explore.

The house has wooden floorboards, fireplaces and period features throughout.

Ground Floor

Large double reception living room with TV, DVD, sofa bed and stereo. Wooden Floors and period features, including beautiful fireplaces in both rooms. We can provide a selection of toys, books and children's DVDs.

Large kitchen with dining table, double Belfast sink, range style cooker, fridge freezer. Separate utility area with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and downstairs WC.

We can provide a highchair, electric plug-in sterilizer for baby bottles in the kitchen, children's plastic plates and cups, cool-bag and flask (perfect for cups of tea at the beach).

Access to small courtyard with seating and BBQ. Space for hanging wetsuits and outside tap for washing suits after the beach.

Washing line for outside drying. On hot sunny days the courtyard has a shaded area which is perfect for a paddling pool! You will also find a selection of beach toys, windbreak and children's fishing nets.

Upstairs

Large family bathroom with fireplace, bath and separate walk-in power shower. Sunny double bedroom. Twin bedroom with beautiful views. Master bedroom with double bed.

Duvets, pillows and bed linen are provided for all beds. However guests are required to bring their own towels.

We can provide a travel cot in any of the bedrooms, changing mat and bath toys in the bathroom for children.

Free on-street parking is available on Morrab Road. The house is located 1 minute from a local corner shop/post office which sells newspapers, magazines and essentials such as milk and teabags.

The sub-tropical Morrab Gardens are behind the house. The sea front is a two minute stroll at the bottom of Morrab Road. A sandy playground with excellent facilities is 5 minutes away.

We can also recommend local babysitters - CRB checked with references and personally used by us.

Local Attractions

Land's End - approximately nine miles west of Penzance, is the most westerly point of the English mainland. On a clear day, the Isles of Scilly can be seen lying just on that horizon - a group of small, yet very beautiful, islands of which five are inhabited while the remainder of nearly 100 are given over to sea birds!

The Land's End Centre is a tourist complex which features the history and heritage of Cornwall and Land's End, with particular emphasis on ships and the sea. There are play areas for children, ships and helicopters to be seen. Meeting at Land's End are the Northern and Southern sections of Cornish Coastal Footpath, the centrepiece of the longest continuous footpath in Britain covering the coast from Poole Harbour and Dorset to Somerset and the Bristol Channel - over 500 miles in all!

St Michael's Mount, Marazion - located 3 miles east of Penzance. Set on an island a few hundred yards off-shore from the ancient town of Marazion, the castle - now maintained by the National Trust - has for centuries been the home of the St Aubyn family. Originally, the building was a Benedictine Priory which had religious links with the equally famous Mont St Michel in Normandy, France. Subsequently, it became a fortified castle which saw action during the English Civil War and today still has a battery of cannon.

The Island and Castle are open to the public every weekday and most weekends during the summer. There is an attractive little harbour with some shops and the Sail Loft Restaurant. At low tide the island is a short walk across the granite causeway, at high tide catch a boat across. It can be fun to plan a trip so you sail over and walk back.
