The
approach is from a quiet moorland lane, over a private drive to a small
courtyard to where the farmhouse and cottage are situated. The first recorded history of Mellon was 1311- known then as Middlelond (middle land); there is evidence around the farm to indicate an earlier settlement. |

The farm is set in 18 acres comprising of hay meadows and permanent pasture, these small fields of about 1 or 2 acres (rare these days) are encased by ancient hedgerows, which provide a variety of wildlife and plants. A stream borders the land to the west, which flows, into the River Camel. |
The
farmland is grazed and managed traditionally without the use of artificial
fertilisers or pesticides. We currently have a small flock of Jacob sheep and some Black Rock hens, eggs are often available. |
