Stunning Sea Views
The Beach House

The Big Beach House is our best holiday property, being the whole of a large colonial-style villa built for a sea captain in 1908. It stands in the finest position with its own private lane and lawns just above the wonderful 3 mile sandy beach at Riviere Towans, and commands wonderful uninterrupted views westerly across St Ives Bay to the sunset. It is adjacent to the coast path with wonderful sand dunes in one direction and the fascinating Hayle estuary in the other.

The magnificent beach is ideal for anyone looking for a seaside holiday. It offers bathing (with lifeguards in season), surfing, wind and kitesurfing and many other watersports. There are also tidal lagoons providing warmer water for little ones, and a beach café for refreshments. We often have visits from dolphins and basking sharks, and we provide binoculars to enhance the view!
The house belongs to an architect, who has designed it as a stylish surfers' pad, so it is bright and comfortably furnished, and while it does not offer luxurious accommodation, it does have all facilities including oil central heating, and is, we believe, a comfortable and relaxing venue. All the rooms are very spacious, with high ceilings, ornate ceiling roses, and tiled, painted or seagrass floors.
The main entrance is the Conservatory, which contains a dining table and chairs. There are extra folding chairs here for larger parties and for use in the garden. There's a large Playroom which has a window seat, a piano for sing songs, sofa, and a huge games table with a selection of board games, cards and books. There is comfortable seating in the large Lounge, where you will find a flat screen TV with DVD player, and fab views from the 12 foot wide folding sliding patio doors. These open out on to the flat lawn where there's a set of cream painted wooden garden furniture for you to enjoy. Inside there are driftwood pictures and artworks by local painters including some left by our happy holidaymakers!
Our Kitchen faces south and has a window seat with a view down to the beach. There is a small dining table with chairs for 4, plus a high chair, so it makes an ideal place for feeding the children. The kitchen is fully equipped with washer/dryer, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, etc.
There are 9 Bedrooms in all - 4 with double beds, 2 with twin beds, one with bunk beds, and one with bunks and a pair of singles. There are 3 cots. The master bedroom downstairs has brilliant views west from the deep bay window which is ringed by a large window seat and a small table for private breakfasts. The two bedrooms to the rear get the morning sun, and each have a pair of single beds and wardrobes. The upstairs bedrooms have fine views too.
There are 2 Bathrooms and 2 shower rooms (4 wcs).
There is also a storage room for beach equipment, and parking for 5 cars. A single dog is welcome subject to a charge of £25 per week. We provide a barbeque, picnic hamper with vacuum flask, bodyboards, a windbreak and buckets and spades at the beginning of the season. Linen is not provided. Changeover day is Friday, entry from 4 pm on arrival to 10 am on departure. We are open all year, and short breaks (at 60% of the weekly cost) are welcome between October and Easter. Prices are between £1000 and £2500 per week. We take a 25% deposit with Payment can be made by cheque, Paypal or online by bank transfer if you prefer.
