Tranquil, remote and romantic and yet in equal measure
mysterious and dramatic the ancient upland Moor is a timeless place.
The rugged boulder-strewn tors have changed little over the centuries;
Stone Age man would still be at home here and this feeling of timelessness
is felt by all who come to know the Moor. The sense of freedom and the
fascination with the wildlife, particularly to those who lead busy city
lives, is immediately striking and palpable; the Moor is a place to
leave the cares of the world behind.

| Following the easy gradients of now closed railways the trail follows the River Camel down its beautiful valley to the superb beaches of Padstow, giving access to the marvellous Cornish countryside as it does so. The final stretch of the trail along the widening, spectacular Camel estuary as it joins the Atlantic Ocean is one of the most beautiful vistas in the West Country; this was the last leg of the journey from Waterloo of the fabled Atlantic Coast Express and was immortalised by John Betjeman as the 'most beautiful train journey I know'. An easy route, traffic free, with a smooth surface and virtually level, the trail is safe for families. The experience of the Trail is guaranteed to be memorable providing free access to the secluded woodlands of the river valley and the breathtaking views across the Camel Estuary. Easily undertaken by cycle in a day from East Rose the Trail is an experience not to be missed!! | |
