Cornish
Quay Holidays is a family business providing a wide range of holiday
properties in a particularly beautiful part of Cornwall. Started
in 1974, the business has been run by our family for 30 years. Our
properties are carefully supervised and we find it very rewarding
that a large number of our previous visitors return each year.
Cornwall
is particularly lovely in the spring and autumn when the changing
colours add to the natural beauty of the landscape. This is an excellent
time to visit as the low rents make off peak holidays exceptional
value for money. Some of the properties are available throughout
the winter which is rarely cold in Cornwall. The first of the spring
flowers are usually out in late January or early February and the
sea can be really dramatic. It is a great time to have a holiday
if you have a spare week or even a few days. We do hope you will
be able to enjoy a holiday with us and get to know this un-spoilt
corner of Cornwall.

Fowey
& Polruan - The River Fowey rises high on Bodmin Moor and
winds its way across Cornwall to where it meets the sea on one of
the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of the south coast, much of
which is owned and protected by the National Trust.
A passenger
ferry provides a vital link between Polruan and Fowey and allows
easy exploration without the use of a car. Narrow winding streets,
old buildings and country lanes provide a picturesque setting and
whether you want an active holiday or just a few days in the sun

the
area is ideal. There are numerous lovely walks which are a superb
way to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of the area. The Hall
Walk, Saints Way and South West Coast Path are the most well known
but with a good map the possibilities are endless.

Lerryn
- Lerryn is a beautiful unspoilt village at the tidal limit of one
of the creeks of the River Fowey. It is said to have some of the
loveliest river scenery in Cornwall. The vista changes constantly
with the tide and the tranquility is disturbed only by the birds
and the occasional boat. The ducks are so tame they can be fed from
the hand.
The
sixteenth century bridge crosses the river just upstream from the
stepping stones which provide an alternative crossing at low tide.

stones,
a path leads to a beautiful walk through the National Trust's Ethy
Wood and on to St Winnow - a tiny riverside hamlet with a lovely
waterside church.

Lostwithiel
- Lostwithiel, the ancient capital of Cornwall, stands on the banks
of the beautiful River Fowey about seven miles from the sea.
Around
Lostwithiel, there are many interesting places to visit. Restormel
Castle, the one time seat of Richard Earl of Cornwall is within
a pleasant walk of the town. Several riverside footpaths lead from
the town and local guide books are available. The coves and beaches

and the ancient port of Fowey are within fifteen minutes drive and
the historic harbours of Charlestown and Mevagissey are about 30
minutes away.
Lostwithiel
is an ideal centre for a holiday exploring Cornwall and all parts
are readily accessible by road.

Looe
- Originally two towns separated by the river, the historic fishing
port of Looe is renowned for its sheltered beaches, quaint old buildings
and labyrinth of narrow streets.
Looe
is still a busy fishing port with all the hustle and bustle concentrated
in East Looe where the quayside is laden with nets and floats and
catches are auctioned in the market.
|
|
East
Looe has the sandier of the town’s two beaches. The beach at Hannafore
is rocky with a host of pools for children to explore. Whichever
side of the river you stay both beaches are within easy reach via
the road bridge or ferry boat.
|
|
Downderry
- Downderry
is a small village in a beautiful location on the south coast of
Cornwall just four mile from Looe. There is a large beach with sand
and shingle ideal for children in summer or a quiet stroll in winter.
The whole area boasts stunning sea views to St George's Island in
the West, Rame Head in the East and on a clear day you can see the
famous Eddystone lighthouse some 9 miles from shore.
