The present owners, Malcolm and Liz Wright, converted the medieval stone barns into luxury holiday cottages designed specifically for those who like their own private space but also wish to take advantage of excellent on-site amenities.

All the cottages have their own private enclosed gardens, car parking and lovely panoramic views. Inside, they have fully equipped fitted kitchens, en-suite bedrooms and central heating to keep you warm and cosy at any time of year.

Grenvilles Granary

The Granary is one of the oldest buildings at Woolstone and has lent itself well to conversion from the medieval grain store of yesteryear to a charming character cottage with all the convenience of modern day living. Grenvilles Granary is especially popular with families bringing grandparents as it has a separate twin bedroom downstairs with its own toilet and hand basin.

Arranged in an 'L' shape, the kitchen/dining room is separate from the lounge, from which there are views over open farmland to the west and the orchard to the north.

Upstairs, there is a galleried landing leading to a twin bedroom with a bathroom opposite, and the main double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom situated on a mezzanine level is a favourite with children, and the original arched granary window adds a special touch. The double bedroom is particularly spacious, allowing plenty of room for cots.

There is a generous parking area for up to three cars and an enclosed garden offering fantastic views of the sunsets to the west.

This cottage books -Friday to Friday and sleeps up to 6 people.

Bevilles Barn

Sir Reginald Bevilles owned and lived at Woolstone Manor in 1300. His son, John became notorious by imprisoning wealthy merchants at Woolstone and charging a ransom for their release. He was also involved in smuggling ring which resulted in him being implicated in the murder of the curate in Poundstock Church during a Sunday service.

The main features of this cottage is its magnificent oak beamed ceilings having been converted from the centuries old Granary.

The open plan kitchen/dining room and lounge occupy the ground floor making a spacious living area. The fully equipped fitted kitchen also has a dishwasher.

Upstairs there are TWO bedrooms, one double with en-suite shower room and one twin with bathroom opposite. Both rooms overlook the enclosed garden below and have far reaching views across open countryside to the village of Marhamchurch.

This cottage books Saturday to Saturday and sleeps 4 people.

Woolstone Wainhouse

The Wainhouse is a single-storey cottage equipped to a particularly high standard and the panoramic views from every window are exceptional. It has private parking right outside the front door and a large garden with barbeque at the rear.

Inside, the modern kitchen has an electric range cooker, integrated dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge freezer and microwave whilst the dining area maintains the farmhouse atmosphere with antique pine furniture.

The spacious lounge with old oak beams and vaulted ceiling has multi-channel TV, DVD and video. Both bedrooms also have televisions, the main double has an en-suite bathroom and the twin has an adjacent shower room.

This cottage books Friday to Friday, sleeps 4 people and is pet- and smoker-free.

Bassets Byre

Sir Francis Basset purchased the estate of Woolstone Manor in 1794. A High Sheriff of Cornwall, he was also influential figure in Cornish tin mining, his main seat being at tehidy in West Cornwall.

Bassets Byre is a single storey south facing cottage converted from the original hay byre adjoining Woolstone Manor's centuries old Granary. The outline of the original feed hoppers are still visible in the stonework of the exposed stone walls in the lounge.

There are TWO spacious bedrooms (both suitable for cots) separated by the open plan living area which makes this cottage esoeciall popular for two couples requiring privacy. One bedroom has a double bed with en-suite shower room, the other has a double bed and a single bed with an en-suite bathroom.

Outside there is parking immediately adjacent to the front door in the shektered walled upper garden. Steps lead down to an enclosed lawned garden with lovely westerly views over open farmland.

This cottage books Saturday to Saturday and sleeps up to 4 people. It is also available at a two person rate outside the high season.

Wright Wood

Wrights Wood

Woolstone was purchased by Charles Bluett in 1911 and four generations lived and farmed here until we, the "Wrights", took over in 1997, Whilst the first barn conversions were being built we planted four hundred trees adjacent to the Old Cattle Barn to replace some of the ancient woodlands which had been lost to Dutch Elm disease.

The Old Cattle barn was the last remaining building awaiting restoration and 2007 saw it converted into two tastefully appointed cottages.

Wrights Wood is a spacious 2-storey cottage equipped to a particularly high standard. Access to the open plan lounge with multi-channel TV abd DVD is through an entrance hall with WC. French doors lead into an enclosed private garden adjacent to the new woodland with distant views to the village of Marhamchurch. The modern kitchen has interated dishwasher and washing machine. The large separate dining room opposite is ideal for making family meals an occasion.

The vaulted ceiling landing leads to a double bedroom with en-suite shower room and a twin bedroom with adjacent bathroom. Both bedrooms are full of character with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, however televisions provide 21st century enterainment!

Private parking is right outside.

This cottage books Friday to Friday and sleeps up to 4 people.

Teagues Trail

Our first priority on arriving at Woolstone was to find a reliable builder accustomed to working in local stone. We found the best - Brain Teague from Crackington Haven. Brain worked relentlessly from 1997 to 2000, achieving all our target dates and never once letting us down. Sadly never saw the project finished but his sons and team have continued to transform the old buildings with unabated enthusiasm. The Trail starts at the Granary Cottages and ends in a walk through Wright Woodland.
