The original Bucklawren manor is mentioned in the Domesday Book of
1092. In medieval times Bucklawren was a nunnery, until Henry 8th
dissolution of the monasteries. |

of Cornwall with its many attractions. There is golf, cycling, riding,
tennis and water sports all available close by and also the safe bathing
beaches of Millendreath, Seaton and Looe. There are several National
Trust properties in the area and of course the delightful historic
fishing villages of Looe, Polperro and Fowey. For the children and
adults alike there is the unique, world-renowned Monkey Sanctuary,
which is within walking distance of Bucklawren. The maritime city
of Plymouth is only a short journey away and offers shops, theatre,
cinema and the National Marine Aquarium. |

From Plymouth: Take the A38 to Trerulefoot
roundabout. Turn left to Looe. After 11/2 miles, (2.4km) turn right
onto the A387 to Looe. Follow the road through Hessenford, past the
turning to Widegates, (now the B3253) to the village of Nomansland
. Take the first left at Nomansland, signposted to The Monkey Sanctuary.
After about 1/4 mile, (.04km) turn left. Follow this road for 1/2
mile (.08km) then turn right at the signpost for Bucklawren. Approximately
1/2 mile (.8km) down the lane, past the Slate House, farm building
and restaurant. Bucklawren Farm on the left. From Looe:
Proceed out of Looe towards Plymouth, turning right onto the B3253.
Carry on for about 2 miles, (3.2km.) Turn right at the signpost for
The Monkey Sanctuary. Follow the road for about 1 mile, then turn
right at the signpost for Bucklawren Farm. Approximately 1/2 mile
(.8km) down the lane, past the Slate House, farm building and restaurant.
