"Unusual and striking.. great fun to read" - Sophie Hannah

"Lively, vital and accomplished" - Sylvia Kantaris

"Phil Bowen's poetry is a big place. He uses it. So get out there and surrender to the comedians and ventriloquists, the nightclub owners and lodgers, the drop dead limousine, the groaning truck, the disgusting luck. Let Phil be your fast-talking guide. It's a wonderful world out there. Ask anyone." - Selina Hill.

The day starts with a traditional English breakfast. Lunches, snacks and evening meals are available from our elegant and atmospheric restaurant. For sensitive souls there's even a friendly ghost around!

The Penzance Arts club is one of Penzance's treasured examples of Georgian architecture built in 1780. The interior has been tastefully restored exposing many delightful original features. From the Entrance Gallery the wide and graceful staircase leads top a landing, whose large bow headed window overlooks Penzance Harbour and provides far reaching views across Mounts Bay.

Everything at the Club - From the real fires to the discreet service from the friendly staff is directed at ensuring that the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The bedrooms contain a double and a single bed with their own showers, hand basin & colour television.  The Dining room is situated at the lower ground floor and has French windows leading to the patio and walled garden. Here, the granite flag stoned floor, light airy décor and soft lighting create an intimate and informal atmosphere. The menu is based on home cooking, using local produce when in season, and offers a varied range of food specialising in fresh caught fish. The Bar and Lounge were once the staterooms of the Portuguese Embassy which still retain their elegance. The days newspapers and fresh coffee are always available. The French windows from the bar give access to the Balcony and delightful private walled garden with sea views of Mounts Bay.
