The Roseland Peninsula is a beautiful unspoilt corner of South Cornwall situated between the River Fal on the west and the sea on the east. The principal villages are St.Mawes, St. Just in Roseland, Portscatho, Gerrans, Veryan and Portloe, each have their own individual charm and character. For those wishing to take a traditional holiday it is a very quiet and peaceful place in which to relax and unwind. It is the ideal location for a family holiday as there are numerous safe, sandy beaches and coves for swimming, building sandcastles, exploring the rockpools, or fishing. The Roseland is very popular with sailors as it has some of the finest sailing waters in the country ranging from the sheltered estuaries to the open sea. Boats and moorings can be rented locally. For walkers there are lots of different riverside, coastal, and inland walks to choose from, many of them circular walks. Most of the villages have a good pub at which you can stop and have a pint and pasty or a crab sandwich. The area also offers a good selection of restaurants many serving locally caught seafood and various shops and art galleries for you to browse. The Roseland Peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty and there are many places where you can just sit and enjoy the spectacular views. You are well situated on the Peninsula to visit some of the wonderful gardens nearby such as THE EDEN PROJECT, the lost gardens of Heligan or the National Trust garden at Trelissick. In the summer months there are local regattas, gig racing, fundays, harbour days and barbecues to enjoy Boat trips are also available, you can travel by ferry from St.Mawes to Falmouth, take a sightseeing trip from Tolverne up the river Fal to Truro, or simply take the small ferry from St.Mawes to Place and explore St.Anthony. Many holidaymakers have fallen in love with the area and return year after year, is that not a recommendation in itself to come and discover 'The Roseland'. Click
